Holder encourages protests, attacks ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder did his part to keep fanning the flames of racial hatred – and feeding liberal self-delusion – by using a speech before the NAACP on Tuesday to laughably describe protests against the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin shooting as “peaceful” and self-defense laws as  dangerous.

That’s as good a description of liberal “reality” as you can find.

ericholderAccording to The Hill, here’s what Holder had to say about the Zimmerman protests that every American with a working television knows have degenerated into violent thuggery completely divorced from “Justice for Trayvon.”

“Across America, diverse groups of citizens, from all races, backgrounds and walks of life, are overwhelmingly making their voices heard — as American citizens have the right to do — through peaceful protests, rallies and vigils designed to inspire responsible debate, not to incite violence and division,” he said.

(To its credit, The Hill follows that with a paragraph describing death threats to Zimmmerman and riots in Los Angeles and Oakland, Calif., and a random attack by blacks on a Hispanic man in Baltimore, Md., which the attackers explained as “This is for Trayvon.”)

And here’s what Holder had to say about “Stand Your Ground” laws: “The list of resulting tragedies is long and, unfortunately, has victimized too many who are innocent. It is our collective obligation; we must stand our ground to ensure that our laws reduce violence, and take a hard look at laws that contribute to more violence than they prevent.”

This is the through-the-looking-glass-logic of liberals, the Obama administration and Eric Holder. Rampant destruction qualifies as “peaceful protests.” Legitimate self-defense laws “contribute to more violence than they prevent.”

This is the man who thinks we are a “Nation of Coward” when it comes to discussing race. This is the man who will be in charge of deciding whether Zimmerman committed a “hate crime” when he shot Trayvon Martin to death in what a jury determined was self-defense during a fight in 2011.

Given Holder’s distorted view of reality, it’s not hard to guess where that’s going to end up.
