Can the liberal opportunists and their race-baiting cousins start talking about the real problem now?

And it isn’t the George Zimmermans of the world.

While the country was fixated on Zimmerman’s murder trial in the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, and the grievance mongering “civil rights leaders” swelled with their outrage over white America’s contempt for the lives of young black men, a front-page story in USA Today on Friday put it in perspective.

And showed what a shameful farce the twin liberal grails of “white racism” and gun control really are.

Tucked into the end of a story comfortingly headlined “Homicide rate for youths hits 30-year low,” is a fact that should be sickening to liberals, but one they publicly ignore:

“The youth homicide rate (in 2010) was 12.7 people per 100,000 for males; 28.8 per 100,000 for black youths; 7.9 per 100,000 for Hispanic youths; and 2.1 per 100,000 for white youths.”

The numbers come from the year before Zimmerman and Martin’s fatal encounter, but the reality they reflect is stark: The homicide rate was almost 29 per 100,000 for blacks; barely 2 per 100,000 for whites.

In other words, young black men are more than 14 times more likely than their white counterparts to be murdered in the United States. And that means they’re much, much more likely to be the murderers, too.

The story doesn’t say that explicitly, of course. And in the context of the Zimmerman trial probably couldn’t, given USA Today’s consistently liberal bias in its news presentation. But the facts are clear – and have been forever to those who care about reality instead of twisted liberal agendas.

The overwhelming majority of homicide victims are killed by people of their own race.  In most homicides, a gun is the weapon involved.

So when the homicide victim is a black man, that gun is rarely in the hands of a white man. And it is almost never the kind of “assault weapon” libs love to cavil about

The Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman hype wasn’t really a “war on black men.” It was about pushing a liberal fantasy that white oppression leaves black men dead.

And the deceptive push about registration and background checks, banning “assault weapons” and all the rest of the Democratic gun-grabbing agenda isn’t about controlling guns as much as it is about controlling people.

But still, all the race hustlers and bleating libs of the mainstream media want to talk about is “military-style” Bushmaster rifles and an otherwise unremarkable “white Hispanic” who picked the wrong place, the wrong time and a tragically wrong way to try to make his neighborhood a safer place.

Young black men are killing young black men at an astounding rate in this country, and no verdict in Sanford, Fla., is going to change that.

In their hearts, the liberals and the race hustlers know it. The question is, do they even care?[poll id=”73″]
