Teacher denies water to students to be fair to fasting Muslim classmate

In a case of political correctness run amok, a young boy was denied water on the hottest day of the year at a British primary school out of fear that it may upset a Muslim classmate who was fasting in observance of Ramadan.

Kora Blagden, 32, first learned of the incident from her son Luke, age 10, as they were discussing the Muslim season, according to The Mail Online.

“Just before bedtime, me and my sons, Luke, 10, and Alfie, 8, were talking about Ramadan, as we had seen it on the news,” Blagden told the British media outlet. “Luke said to me he was told he wasn’t allowed to drink in class by his teacher. The reason being, a child who is fasting had a headache, and the teacher said it would be unfair if the other children drank in front of the pupil. They normally have their bottles on their table, but they were kept in a tray by the teacher.”

“He went along with it, but he was thirsty and didn’t want to offend the other children” she added. “Luke was dehydrated when he got home and drunk three glasses of water straight away.”

The incident occurred Thursday, when temperatures had reached 28 degrees Celsius, or 82.4 degrees Fahrenheit, according to The Mail.

The following day, Blagden confronted the school’s deputy head, Lisa Florence, before classes began.

“It was not what they had been told to do, and it is only what children of Muslim faith do,” Blagden told The Mail.

But Blagden’s 8-year-old, who attends the same school, had the same complaint.

“Alfie said he was allowed to drink in the morning but not in the afternoon,” the mother said.

Religious tolerance should be instilled in everyone, and making an effort to avoid offending the religious beliefs of others is part of that. When the principle is taken to extremes, though, it becomes silly and, as in this case, even dangerous.

Liberals claim to seek diversity, but when push comes to shove, they want everyone to conform to the wants and needs of the current minority “darling,” whether it be a certain race, religion or sexual orientation.

That’s not diversity — it’s the bullying of the majority by a very small minority.
