The Broward County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday it is working with other police departments around the state and “has coordinated a response plan in anticipation” of the George Zimmerman verdict expected out of Sanford, Fla. in the next few days.

BSO published a public service announcement “urging young people not to let their emotions get the best of them.”

The PSA, called, “Raise your voice, not your hands,” was a collaborative effort between “kids from the Jason Taylor Foundation, H.A.N.D.Y. (Helping Abused, Neglected, Disadvantaged Youth) and basketball star James Jones of the championship Miami Heat team,” along with the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Scott Israel wants the public to know “law enforcement does have your back,” and asked for restraint after the verdict.

“We don’t have information about a specific event that might take place at the conclusion of the trial, but we encourage everyone to keep any protests peaceful,” Sheriff Scott Israel said, according to the BSO press release.

Zimmerman’s defense team said it expects to finish presenting its case some time on Wednesday.
