A former senior producer for cable network MSNBC said his former employer “seems closer to the ‘official network of the Obama White House‘ than anything resembling an independent channel.”

Jeff Cohen, one-time senior producer of MSNBC’s “Donahue” show, in an editorial published Sunday on AlterNet, a far-left web site, stated:

“When it comes to issues of U.S. militarism and spying, the allegedly ‘progressive’ MSNBC often seems closer to the ‘official network of the Obama White House’ than anything resembling an independent channel.”

Most deliciously, as NewsBusters described it, the title of Cohen’s piece is “How Do You Know When President Obama is Lying? MSNBC’s ‘Progressive’ Hosts Won’t Tell You.”

But before anyone on the right gets too excited about the possibility of Cohen having an epiphany, note that he laments the fact that the Obama regime is not “progressive” enough for his tastes. And he is not taking MSNBC to task for the wall-to-wall favorable coverage President Obama is regularly granted.

Nonetheless, it’s enjoyable to see him call out the far-left pundits conservatives love to hate — Ed Shultz, Rachel Maddow and Melissa Harris-Perry.

In reference to NSA whistle-blower Eric Snowden, Cohen richly proffered:

“MSNBC talking heads have reacted to the Snowden disclosures like Fox News hosts did when they were in hysterical damage control mode for Bush.”

Cohen also wrote of watching an unnamed MSNBC host “function as an auxiliary prosecutor in Obama’s Justice Department,” which is just as rich considering Attorney General Eric Holder’s Department of Justice isn’t doing much prosecuting these days, being preoccupied with running cover for the regime.

In the end, while Cohen’s piece may be a soothing tonic for the right, there’s no revelations here. As for MSNBC being the “official network of the Obama White House,” that’s something conservatives have known since the summer of 2008 and it’s not just limited to U.S. militarism and spying.
