Man steps out of Nike line to shoot armed robber, gets back in line

There may be truth to the line, “the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” Witnesses to a Saturday shooting outside an Atlanta store will back that up.

Customers had been in line since Monday to purchase $180 Nike LeBron James X Denim sneakers, due to be released at noon on Saturday. When a man approached the customers in line early that morning and pulled a gun to rob them, another customer stepped out of line and shot him. The would-be robber ran a short distance then collapsed and died, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The customer who shot the gunman had a concealed carry permit. He returned to his place in line after the shooting.

“He [the shooter] really stood up for all of us,” Taylor White, a witness who was in line when the shooting happened, told Channel 2. “I salute the homie that did that.”

Police consider the shooting to be self-defense and have not filed any charges while the investigation continues.
