Krauthammer not mincing words on Obama’s ‘self-indulgent’ Berlin speech

Always one to speak his mind, during a panel discussion on Fox News’ Special Report Charles Krauthammer gave his harsh review of President Obama’s speech on Wednesday at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

Obama had given a speech at the same venue during his first presidential campaign in 2008, but reports say this event was more sparsely attended compared to the previous one. According to the UK Daily Mail:

It was a more muted affair for President Obama in Berlin today as he spoke at Berlin’s iconic Brandenburg Gate before an invite-only crowd of 4,500 guests – a remarkable difference from the rock-star welcome he received five years ago in front of 195,500 cheering supporters.

“Obama gave a speech in Germany this week,” Krauthammer said. “Was it a) a stirring defense of the United States and the concept of liberty, a la Reagan and Kennedy; b) a mediocre mush of platitudes; c) the worst presidential speech on foreign affairs in memory; or d) self-indulgent, anachronistic and adolescent?”

Without missing a beat, Krauthammer gave his brutally honest opinion.

“It doesn’t even reach the level of mush,” he said. “C is the correct answer — yes, to be harsh, absolutely — and d, empty, self-indulgent, anachronistic and adolescent.”
