Sarah Palin on Syria fighting: ‘Let Allah sort it out’

Sarah Palin doesn’t want the United States on the hook for any military intervention President Obama starts before he leaves office.

As long as Obama is president, she told the Faith and Freedom Coalition on Saturday, the country should rely on an outside power decide which side will win in Syria, according to a report in The Hill.

“Until we have a commander-in-chief who knows what he is doing…. let Allah sort it out!” she said, according to The Hill.

sarahpalinThe statement puts the former vice presidential candidate at odds with her 2008 running mate, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. McCain wants the United States to aid the Syrian rebels with more direct means, such as no-fly zones enforced by the American military to take away the Syrian government’s advantage in air power.

The Obama administration’s sometimes drifting policy on the Syrian fighting has moved toward supplying the rebels against Syrian President Bashar Assad.

According to The Hill, Palin also used her speech to support Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in his battles with more establishment Republicans. That also puts her at odds with McCain, who has tangled with Cruz publicly over budget policy and immigration.

And she probably spoke for many Americans – if slightly more politely – when she said the recent scandals over the National Security Agency’s monitoring of Americans’ communications and IRS targeting of conservative groups just prove Washington is a “hot mess.”

Americans should be getting plenty of chances to hear Palin’s views on future issues. Fox News announced Thursday that she will be returning to the network after a three-year arrangement ended in January.

Palin will appear on “Fox & Friends” beginning Monday morning and will contribute to the Fox Business Network, Fox reported.
