Sen. Bob Dole says GOP should be ‘closed for repairs’

Senator Bob Dole gave a rare television interview on Fox News Sunday and didn’t pull any punches in talking about today’s Republican Party. The veteran and former presidential candidate made his opinion very clear.

“I think they ought to put a sign on the National Committee door that says ‘closed for repairs,’ until New Years’ Day next year,” Dole told Chris Wallace, “and spend that time going over ideas and positive agendas.”

Wallace asked Dole if he or Ronald Reagan could make it in today’s Republican party.

“I doubt it,” Dole said. “Reagan couldn’t have made it. Certainly Nixon couldn’t have made it, because he had ideas.”
