Scandals? What scandals?
The White House wants to change the subject.
After a week that saw the capital riveted by three high-level scandals, The Washington Post reported Sunday that President Obama plans to deliver a speech on counterterrorism this week at the National Defense University.
Because counterterrorism has been all over the news lately, right?
In the speech, Obama “will frame the future of our efforts against al-Qaeda, its affiliates and adherents,” an unnamed official told The Post.
Hopefully, those efforts will work better than letting an American ambassador be murdered by terrorists, then lying about it to blame it on a video no one ever heard of.
And they’ll be easier to talk about than the administration using the IRS to harass America citizens who don’t like its politics, or the Justice Department sweeping up reporters’ phone records in blanket subpoenas.
The White House should hope so, anyway. We’ll find out Thursday.
