Eric Holder plays dumb and dumber

Peter is said to have denied Christ three times. But Peter had nothing on Attorney General Eric Holder at Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing. He denied knowing anything about anything. And just like the number of Heinz varieties, he did so 57 times.

He denied knowing anything about the Justice Department’s — his department’s — acquisition of two months of telephone records from the personal and business accounts of Associated Press reporters without notice or judicial review, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

He denied knowing anything about the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative organizations while giving liberal groups a free pass.

He just didn’t know — the attorney general was clueless.

Although he claimed he’d recused himself from the Associated Press case, he didn’t have a clue as when that occurred.

“I think [the recusal] was towards the beginning of the matter,” he said. “I don’t know when.”

Although Holder obviously arrived at the committee hearing unprepared and without having even attempted to familiarize himself with the issues, he couldn’t help but engage in a “pot calls kettle black” moment.

“It is unacceptable and it’s shameful,” Holder concluded of Issa’s conduct. Finally, Holder found something he knew.

During Wednesday’s edition of “The Five,” Greg Gutfeld remarked on Holder’s performance before the House Judiciary Committee hearing that he could have played both roles in “Dumb and Dumber.”
