Palm Beach County is frequently recognized for recruiting and expanding companies to the area, including two of the world’s largest bioscience organizations. On Thursday, Kelly Smallridge, President and CEO of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, was presented with the Governor’s Business Ambassador Medal for her work in creating jobs in South Florida by Gov. “I am pleased to present Kelly Smallridge with the Governor’s Business Ambassador Medal for her tireless efforts to create jobs in South Florida,” Scott said in a release. “She has been a champion for our efforts at the state level to eliminate barriers on manufacturers by removing the tax on machinery and equipment, which create more jobs and opportunities for Florida families.”

Smallridge has served the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County for 25 years, and is credited with facilitating some of largest job creation projects in the state.

The Governor’s Ambassador Award, presented at the Enterprise Florida board meeting, was created by the Executive Office of the Governor and Enterprise Florida, Inc. in 2012 to recognize significant contributions to Florida’s economic development.

“I’m pleased and honored to have received the Governor’s Ambassador Award and it’s especially meaningful to have been presented with the award by Gov. Scott in the company of the esteemed Enterprise Florida Board of Directors,” Smallridge, a member of the Enterprise Florida Board of Directors, said.

The Business Development Board is a not-for-profit corporation, which has assisted in creating more than 9,000 direct jobs in the past five years, resulting in more than $493 million in capital investment to Palm Beach County and an economic impact that exceeds $3.47 billion.
