Law enforcement officials have told ABC News that “mounting” forensic evidence tie Boston Marathon bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to an unsolved triple homicide committed on the anniversary of 9/11.
As previously reported, police have been investigating whether the slain Tsarnaev was involved in the murders of his close friend and two Jewish men in 2011.
Tamerlan and Brendan Mess were once roommates and did boxing and martial arts training together. Mess was found murdered in an apartment in Waltham, Mass., on Sept. 11, 2011, along with Erik Weissman and Raphael Teken.
All three men had their throats slit and their bodies covered in marijuana, and the crime was originally thought to be drug-related.
Authorities say included in the evidence collected are cell phone records that place the Tsarnaev brothers in the area of the murders on the date they were committed.
Surprisingly, even though Islamic terrorists are suspected of being involved in the murder of Jews on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack in 2000, the national media has not warmed to the story.
