Somewhat ironically, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie goes on NBC to tell the nation, “I’m a damn good Republican.”
Brian Williams interviewed Christie on the Jersey Shore boardwalk for NBC’s “Rock Center,” with a number of eateries in the background somehow serving as a distraction.
In speaking of a potential run for the White House, Williams’ bias shows when he incredulously asks Christie how he’d survive a primary: “What Republican Party do you see that would support your candidacy right now?”
Of course, the question is asked as if it’s a given that the GOP is an extreme far-right party, which, outside of Democratic Party talking points, is not true.
“I’m a damn good Republican,” Christie responded. “But that does not mean that I would ever put a party before my state or a party before my country.”
The governor does not attempt to reconcile that statement with the ongoing actions of President Obama, of whom he continues to praise.
The full interview airs Friday night, Mediaite notes, but in the preview below Christie reveals some information about how he might fit into the Republican Party’s presidential field in 2016.
