Who’s in charge of babysitting Biden?

Rev up Air Force 2, Joe Biden is ready to hit the trail – just don’t tell the president yet. Biden announced to a group of law enforcement officials during a meeting in his office on Friday that he’s ready to renew the push for expanded background checks, according to Politico.

Watch the expense account, Biden plans to travel around the country with a specific focus on the states of Senators who voted down the gun control legislation that failed in April. Biden admitted that he “hasn’t really discussed” his plans with President Obama.

“He was talking like he was going to be leading it,” a person who was at the meeting told Politico. “He didn’t mention any other senators in terms of leading the charge.”

Biden’s first stop was at a South Carolina Democratic dinner Friday night, where he addressed the crowd in the key primary state.

The vice president noted that his trip to South Carolina would have the media buzzing about 2016, while he was there to honor his friend, Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C. But he was quick to jump into campaign-type rhetoric during his speech.

“One of the things that bothers me most about the new Republican party is how down on America they are, how down on our prospects they are, how they talk about how we’re getting clobbered, how they talk about things that have no relationship to reality, all in the name of making sure that the very few at the top do very well,” Biden said, reported by ABC News.

Just a few miles down the road, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas spoke to a Republican dinner crowd.

“So Vice President Joe Biden is in town,” Cruz said, reportedly some in the crowd began to laugh. “You know the great thing is you don’t even need a punch line. You just say that and people laugh.”
