O’Reilly to Alan Colmes for defending Tsarnaevs receiving welfare: ‘Shut up!’

Outside of former U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, no one brings out the ire in Fox News host Bill O’Reilly quite like liberal radio show host Alan Colmes. The clashes between the two men are becoming legendary just on the display of sheer hostility that O’Reilly projects toward his regular guest and Tuesday night’s show was no exception.

O’Reilly was expressing outrage that the Boston Marathon bombing suspect’s family was able to get more than $100,000 in welfare benefits over several years due to a welfare system devoid of oversight. When Colmes moved to challenge this assertion, O’Reilly vehemently told him to “shut up.” Twice.

In showing a clip of the suspects’ mother accusing the United States of framing her children for terrorism, even though the family was being supported in large part by U.S. taxpayers, O’Reilly called her actions “disgraceful.”

He asked why President Obama and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick aren’t angry over the fact that the family was getting welfare assistance while “driving a Mercedes” and going back and forth to the country that was supposedly “persecuting” them — which is why they asked for asylum in the U.S.

Of course, Colmes was doing what any good liberal would do, that is, protect the entitlement system in place in America. After all, sustaining the entitlement mentality is critical to the electoral success of the progressive, big-government left.
