As more photographs taken during the Boston Marathon are turned over to the FBI to be analyzed, chilling images are outlining how the day unfolded. In the latest, the FBI has released a photo that shows bombing suspect #2, now identified as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, standing just feet away from Martin Richard, the 8-year-old boy who was killed by the explosion.
Standing to Martin’s right is his 7-year-old sister Jane, who lost a leg in the blast. The Richard family had moved near the finish line to watch for the children’s father, who was running in the marathon, according to The Smoking Gun.
The picture also shows the backpack Tsarnaev was carrying, suspected to contain the explosive device.
