Not an administration to ever let a tragedy go to waste to forward its progressive political agenda, President Obama turned his weekly radio address over to a mother of a Newtown victim Saturday morning in his push for more gun control.

Francine Wheeler, who lost her young son Ben in the Sandy Hook shooting, was the first person other than President Obama or Vice President Joe Biden to ever deliver the Saturday morning radio address.

According to the White House, Wheeler was asked to deliver the address this week to plead with Americans to support “commonsense gun responsibility reforms:”

This week’s address is delivered by Francine Wheeler, whose six year old son, Ben, was murdered alongside nineteen other children and six educators in Newtown, Connecticut, four months ago. Now, Francine – joined by her husband David – is asking the American people to help prevent this type of tragedy from happening to more families like hers. Since that terrible day in December, thousands more Americans have died, and thousands more families have suffered the pain of losing a loved one to violence. Now that the Senate has agreed that commonsense gun safety reforms deserve a vote, they must finish the job and pass those reforms to protect our children and our communities. Now is the time for all Americans to help make this a moment of real change.

Needless to say, Wheeler delivers an emotional plea on behalf of the president’s agenda to expand gun control laws in this country.

Funny how the libs want a common sense solution. Doesn't using the words liberal and common sense in the same sentence constitute an oxymoron? Want common sense? Enforce the laws already in place. Further limiting law abiding citizens only ensures more victims for nut cases.

  2. Judy Carmichael says:

The problem is, guns are in the hands of criminals, not law abiding citizens. This is exploitation big time. The President is only using you and the death of these precious children. I am so sorry for your loss, however, if these laws are passed…..we the law abiding citizens will be left in the hands of criminals. they can't wait for these laws to pass. They will have the upper hand. While the politicians who have armed security don't worry about a thing. God Bless you and your family. Please help to keep mine safe.

Really Sorry Ms. Wheeler about your loss and the loss of others. I really, really do not agree with you taking a 'political' position about the death of your loved one. Your loss would be more than a person could endure but, why not stick to mourning and remembering and let this asshole in the white house do his own campaigning. Also, you must have received your facts from the white house or the media….'thousands more have died'??? If you decide to continue in politics, perhaps get the facts a little more accurate. Good luck to you.

Great sad face makeup to go along with crying on cue. Gimme a break – like this woman knows squat about the Second Amendment or the true objectives of Obuma and the gun control nazis who want to try and take legal firearems from lawabiding citizens so only criminal have them. I thin kit itmes past they called it prostituting yourslef. Barf.

  6. PreservingFreedom says:

Gun rights advocates are not being aggressive enough in resisting this. For starters, attacks on legal gun owners who have done nothing wrong are unconstitutional and a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution. Secondly, the Obama administration has not only failed to advance a single measure that would have prevented Newton, CT they are also ignoring rampant gun crime being perpetuated by their constituents in cities like Chicago. Keeping guns out of the hands of street gangs would be a way to prove they were serious about prevented gun related tragedies. Why isn't the NRA suing the democratic party? Would you like some statistics about gun crimes in areas dominated by liberals. The left wing is COMMITTING most of the gun crimes. What was Adam Lanza's political affiliation by the way?

    1. Rich says:

You are right about not being aggressive enough especially with concern to the NRA. What I see is the NRA asking for more money from frightened gun owners and not fighting the fight. If they continue this course of inaction gun owners will definitely lose.
