First lady Michelle Obama interjected herself into the gun control debate Wednesday as she oddly compared herself to the 15-year old girl shot in Chicago one week after performing at the presidential inauguration.

Mrs. Obama spoke about youth violence in Chicago the night before the senate is expected to hold a cloture vote on gun control legislation Thursday.

She then spoke of the similarities between herself and honor student Hadiya Pendleton who was shot in the back in a Chicago park in January.

Hadiya Pendleton was me, and I was her,” the first lady said before reminding the crowd in a violent, crime ridden city with strict gun laws that she had a few more advantages than the average kid coming off the streets of Chicago.

“I got to grow up and go to Princeton and Harvard Law School and have a career and a family and the most blessed life I could ever imagine,” the first lady said.
