US Rep: ‘It’s time, Mr. Speaker, to sequester Pakistan’

The fact that the Obama administration is paying to educate Pakistanis while playing “Soup Nazi” to our troops, telling them, “No school for you!” has got at least one Congressmen hopping mad.

Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, is introducing a bill on Tuesday that will suspend educational aid to Pakistan until such aid to our servicemen and women is restored.

“Why are we funding education programs for our Benedict Arnold ally when we can’t fund — or don’t fund — the education for our military?” Poe said on the House floor according to Fox News. “And to Pakistan of all places, where hatred for America is at its highest. Washington should watch its spending and prioritize. It’s time, Mr. Speaker, to sequester Pakistan.”

Military tuition assistance to the was one of the first things the White House cut in response to the sequester — Republican lawmakers claim that the administration is politicizing sequestration by making the cuts as visible and public as possible.

Other lawmakers have been attempting to restore funds for this program, including Sens. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., and Kay Hagan, D-N.C., who introduced an amendment to a budget bill last week to do so.

Poe said that although tuition aid to Marines totaled roughly $47 million last year as opposed to the $12.7 million spent on education in Pakistan, that didn’t tell the whole story.

“Since the sequester, the administration has approved $37 million in foreign aid to Pakistan.”
