A fight over hate speech versus free speech is brewing in San Francisco as new ads exposing the hateful quotes of terrorists went up on city buses.
Political activist Pamela Geller’s group American Freedom Defense Initiative sponsored the ten new ads. “Killing Jews is worship that draws us closer to Allah,” one reads. Another is an Osama bin Laden quote, “”The first thing we are calling you to is Islam.”
“The purpose of our campaign is to show the reality of Jihad, the root causes of terrorism. Using the exact quotes and text that they use,” Geller told CBS News in San Francisco.
The ads are also in response to a previous San Francisco bus ad campaign from the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon and city officials are outraged at what they consider is anti-Muslim hate speech by the ads, the station reported.
“It is significant that they did not condemn the cynical and deceptive Hamas-linked CAIR ads that ran on buses earlier, and to which my ads are replying,” Geller said in an AFDI press release Monday. “Their inconsistency and politically motivated selective outrage are manifest.”
“San Francisco won’t tolerate Islamic bigotry,” Gascon said. “The only thing necessary for evil to prevail is for good people to look the other way and do nothing.”
Geller posted the CBS News report on her website, “Atlas Shrugs,” and slammed Gascon for his comment.
I love when the DA tool District Attorney George Gascon badly paraphrases Edmund Burke’s famous quote that all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Well, Gascon, the only thing worse than doing nothing is actually aiding and abetting the enemy.
Did Gascon and his council of quislings condemn the quotes by the jihadists? Not. a. chance. What is implied here is that Gascon and the craven council associate all Muslims with violent jihad. Who’s the phobe now, clown?
