The Taliban claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in Afghanistan Saturday morning, saying it was a “direct message” to new Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, who just arrived in the country.
ABC News reported the attack occurred at the Afghanistan Ministry of Defense complex in Kabul, not far from the base where Hagel was attending a briefing.
Nine civilians, including children, were killed in the blast.
“We’re still at war,” Hagel said Friday. “I think most Americans…understand that.”
