Obama cancels WH tours as childish sequestration payback

Citing “staffing reductions” caused by the sequester, the Obama administration announced to its staff via email that White House tours would be cancelled effective Saturday.

“Unfortunately, we will not be able to reschedule affected tours,” the notice said, according to a report on Fox News.com. “We very much regret having to take this action, particularly during the popular Spring touring season.”

Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D. told Fox News the move was politically motivated. “It seems childish — take my ball and go home,” Cramer said.

Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, was quick to respond, “the people have been banned from the people’s house.”

This announcement did not play well in combination with the recent news “Obama for America,” has become “Organizing for Action,” and the new group is offering donors of $500,000 or more direct access to the president.

The Twitter universe was outspoken, as the news rolled out of the abrupt stop to the tours Tuesday. Twitchy, calling it “Sequester theater,” posted the top tweets. Here are a few:

My personal favorite tweet from Michael Hirsh @mrhirsh asked, “Can we shut down  because of ? That would be progress.”
