According to a report by The Associated Press, the Congressional Sportmen’s Foundation raffled off a Browning Silver shotgun Tuesday in the Cannon House office building, directly across the street from the Capitol.

The raffle occurred at a “Welcome to Congress” reception for members of the Congressional Sportmen’s Caucus.

The National Rifle Association was reportedly one of the event’s sponsors this year.

As reported by Red Alert Politics:

“The reception, which included 46 bipartisan Members of Congress, from both sides of the Capitol, focused on common issues of concern to sportsmen and women and served as an opportunity for members of the CSC to jointly agree on the need to move bipartisan, pro-sportsmen legislation in this Congress,” according to a statement from the caucus.

As Red Alert Politics notes, there’s no word on whether or not Vice President Joe Biden, an apparent shotgun enthusiast, attended the event.

It’s a safe bet Democrat lawmakers are hard at work crafting legislation that will outlaw any such future raffles.
