Don’t mess with Texas homeowners, round two

In a reprise of an earlier report involving Texans and burglars, a Texas homeowner fended off three burglars until the police arrived, and in doing so, revealed a surprise ending to the incident.

Randy Magdeleno arrived at his Houston home Wednesday morning after dropping his wife off at work, only to discover two intruders in his kitchen. He grabbed his bolt-action .22 cal. rifle and confronted them.

“It was scary, I didn’t know what I was walking into and hearing people running around inside my house at the same time,” he told KHOU News. “I didn’t know if they were carrying weapons around or not.”

As he held them at bay he heard noises coming from the home’s second story — there was at least one more burglar on the premises.

At that point, he kept the gun pointed in the direction of the intruders with one hand as he speed-dialed his wife with the other. She called the police while also keeping her husband on the line.

Eventually a third burglar showed himself, and Magdeleno held all three at bay until officers arrived on scene and took over.

And that surprise ending? The gun was unloaded.
