Chris Matthews launches anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment tirade

While Chris Matthews of MSNBC’s Hardball is known for his liberal point of view, he took to the air on Monday criticizing guns, gun shows and even the Second Amendment.

When Joy Reid of the Grio.com was explaining how she thought the commerce of guns should be regulated, Matthews interrupted saying, “”You mean kill these gun shows? I’d love to see that.”

“We’ve got a Second Amendment. I don’t know what other country has anything like the Second Amendment but we darn well have it,” Matthews ranted. “How do we live with it and also live through it?”

Matthews then played a clip of Republican Senator Ted Cruz expressing his sorrow for the Sandy Hook tragedy and how the gun-control proponents used it for political purposes.

“There you have got Ted Cruz, a well-educated guy, and another one of these well-educated right-wingers like Pat Robertson. It’s like they flush out their high educations when they get out of school for political purposes.”

Rebecca Peters, former director of the International Action Network on Small Arms, told Matthews it’s all about money. “No one stands to make money either from prevention,” she said.

“How much time do we have before this issue gets dull again, because we haven’t had a recent horror?” Matthews asked.
