Senator Marco Rubio announces his committee assignments

Marco rubioU.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today announced his four committee assignments for the 113th Congress. For the second consecutive Congress, Rubio will serve on the Committee on Foreign Relations, the Select Committee on Intelligence, the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and the Small Business Committee.

In making this announcement, Rubio issued the following statement:

“I’m honored to continue my service on the Foreign Relations, Intelligence, Commerce and Small Business Committees for the 113th Congress. As many of our nation’s most pressing issues fall under the purview of these committees, I’m confident my assignments will allow me to work actively and productively for the people of Florida.

“I’ll be honored to continue my work on the Foreign Relations and Intelligence Committees, where I’ve already had many valuable experiences in my first two years in the Senate. I’ve had the opportunity to travel around the world to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, GITMO, Haiti, Colombia, Spain and Germany to represent our government and see first-hand the important work being done by American men and women overseas. In the coming Congress, I intend to remain closely involved in the duties of the Foreign Relations and Intelligence Committees, including the advancement of America’s interests around the globe and the careful oversight of these vital government functions.

“I’ve also greatly valued my experiences on the Commerce Committee, including my continuing work on several issues of great interest to Floridians, such as policies affecting NASA and Florida’s space coast, trade with our hemispheric neighbors, and oversight of our important fishing industry. Through my work on the Small Business Committee, I’ve been privileged to work side-by-side with many business leaders throughout Florida and across the nation. Small businesses play an integral role in the growth of our nation’s economy, creating the majority of new middle-class jobs and representing the best of the American Dream. I am excited to carry on my work on this important committee so that we can continue to be the most inviting nation in the world for those wishing to start a business.

“Through my continued efforts on these four vitally important committees, I am confident that I can represent the people of Florida well and contribute to the growth, security and economic prosperity of our nation.”

Sen Rubio will be the one with sound reasoning and using open mind on issues. Wish more in DC could take a cue from him and do their jobs better.

Marco I am so glad that you are from Fl. I am to. Please do not lose the sense of who you are and what you stand for while we lend you to Washington. Hopefully one day soon we will send you there as one nation under God as President only on loan…then come back and make a difference in our home state!!

Senator Rubio, I am so impressed with you, already. I wrote to you about abortions and you returned my letter. I wrote several and you were the only one to reply. I, and all other American's are watching Washington, with our breaths on hold. Needless to say, we are concerned for America and the actions taking place in Washington. Our Constitution is in danger and with you on guard, I feel better, but we are not completely out of danger. Please stand for us…we need to take our country back. I DO NOT WANT ANY OF OUR MONIES/AIRCRAFT GOING TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES, TO SUPPORT THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD. ALSO, WE DON'T NEED GUN CONTROL, IT DOESN'T WORK.

I believe most American's feel the same way. Help, help, help!!!!

  4. Nit the wit says:

Rubio, if you are the real thing, do yourself and the country a big favor, stop hanging around with these Republicrat losers, and build a new party comprised of true patriots, otherwise you'll be swept down the commode in the well deserved, final flush.

I am hoping he runs for President

  6. Ted says:

Mr Rubio. Get come cojones. Say something that takes a position that isn't "safe". You probably will not be the president. Your political career will lose its steam like a over heated balloon, unless you stand for something and not keep playing it safe. You can't even give an opinion on the age of the world. What is it you said when asked: "I'm not a scientist, man". You are a lawyer. A former Florida State Speaker of the House, and all you can say is that "I'm not a scientist, man"?

Better to lose for something, than to stand for nothing. Just saying.

Marco Rubio is not a natural born citizen and therefore not eligible to be president or VP. Otherwise he would of been a good choice.

    1. Isabella1709 says:

You are among the opposition that choses to lie about Marco Rubio, 2 in Florida come to mind, Charlie Crist, and a rather shady "conservative" analyst named Chris Ingram. You would state your proof rather than make accusations.

    2. John Cortez says:

Marco was born in America, I don't know where you got your facts from, but there wrong.

      1. John Cortez says:

Mr.Rubio like I told on FB, I'm ready to work for you up here in Michigan, when your ready to run for President. I've watched everyone of your speeches on YouTube and I'm with you 100%.

    3. jseaha says:

Marco was born in America may 28 1971 miami fla… He is going to run in 2016

  9. jaime martinez says:

Mr. Rubio, may God be with you on your participation on the chosen committees. I know you will be vigilant, specially on Foreign Relations and Intelligence, where we need statesmanship as well as leadership. You are my voice in the Senate and I would not choose anyone else. All engines forward. Thank you.
