Miriam Pazz and 4-year-old son Eric Jr. had traveled from their home base in Germany to Pasadena to the Rose Parade – thinking they had won a contest for military families.
Instead, they were treated to a surprise reunion with husband and father, Army Sgt. Eric Pazz, who had been serving in Afghanistan for most of the year.
Parade announcers were moved to tears, and the crowd cheered and gave a standing ovation at the emotional sight.
The family will spend a week in Southern California before Sgt. Pazz has to return to duty in Afghanistan, according to a KTLA 5 report.
