Reports began pouring in Wednesday evening that the Syrian military has loaded ariel bombs with the components of deadly sarin nerve gas to use against their own people and await only final orders from President Bashar Assad to do so.
U.S. officials told NBC News, “their worst fears had been confirmed: The nerve agents were locked and loaded inside the bombs.” The U.S. officials also said if Assad should give the order to use them, “”there’s little the outside world can do to stop it.”
The news comes only days after both President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton issued stern warnings to Syria that the use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people would warrant a “swift U.S. response.”
