With obvious restraint in not mentioning the words “Hamas” or “terrorists,” ABC correspondent Alex Marquardt on Tuesday described the firing of rockets into Israel as “Gazans defending themselves.”
Marquardt said “true peace” will not happen “until Israel stops targeting people here in the Gaza Strip,” lamenting that the United States is siding with Israel.
A growing number of media outlets have painted Israel as the bully in responding to the hundreds of rockets being fired into its country each day. Earlier this week, Huffington Post listed the following:
Israel Airstrike Hits Al Aqsa, Hamas TV Station, In High-Rise In Downtown Gaza City
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Israeli aircraft struck crowded areas in the Gaza Strip and killed a senior militant with a missile strike on a media center Monday, driving up the Palestinian death toll to 100, as Israel broadened its targets in the 6-day-old offensive meant to quell Hamas rocket fire on Israel.
And this one the same day:
Dalu Family In Gaza Mourns Dead After Israel Bombs House (WARNING: Graphic Photos)
GAZA, Nov 19 (Reuters) – Even as neighbours picked through the rubble of their destroyed house for survivors, the stunned Dalu family arrived at Gaza’s main hospital on Monday to collect the bodies of nine relatives for burial.
“Is this your wife?” asked a medic inside the morgue.
“Ahh, what happened to your face sweetheart?” her husband said, weeping and collapsing into the arms of his spouse. The woman’s face was burnt beyond recognition.
