MSNBC host insults Israel’s ambassador, downplays threat: ‘Rockets rarely do damage’

In an interview with Michael Oren, Israel’s ambassador to the U.S., NBC’s Mara Schiavocampo dismisses the threat of Hamas rockets being fired upon Israel.

Oren said that no country in the world “would tolerate half of its population sitting in bomb shelters”. He said people are unable to work or go to school, and his country is prepared to take “legitimate means to defend its citizens” against the escalating rocket fire.

Schiavocampo asked Oren, “What would you say to those who argue that the rockets are essentially very ineffective, they rarely do damage and the Isreali’s response is disproportional to the threat they are under?”

Oren noted that the three people that died and the 150 people who have been injured as a result of the attacks would probably disagree with that assessment.

In a further insulting tone, Schiavocampo asks that despite Israel’s response to Gaza in the past, “doesn’t this show that Israel’s policy toward Gaza has been a failure?”
