Economic Council taps Daniel Martell as new President and CEO

WEST PALM BEACH –  Daniel Martell has been chosen as the new President and CEO of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County. Martell joins the group after spending the last 5 years as a Vice President at Florida Crystals, one of the area’s top employers and the world’s largest cane sugar refiner.

“It’s an honor to be chosen,” said Martell. “I’m excited by the opportunity to be a part of the Economic Council and its 36 year history of success.”

Martell is a graduate of the University of Florida and the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center. He previously worked with WCI Communities and served as the Director of  Governmental Affairs for the Gold Coast Builders Association. Martell replaces longtime Economic Council President Mike Jones who retired in April after serving a decade with the group. He begins his new job on November 15.

Martell’s hiring marks a new chapter in the proud history of the Economic Council. “Danny was selected from fantastic and well qualified group of applicants from across the United States,” said Council Chairman Nat Roberts. “We hope to build on our past successes by bringing community and business leaders together to promote a vibrant, prosperous economic climate for Palm Beach County.”

“I am thrilled with our selection of Danny,” said Jonathan Satter, Economic Council Chair Elect and Chair of the Council’s Search Committee. “His energy, experience, and understanding of Palm Beach County put us in an excellent position to fulfill our mission.”

The Economic Council of Palm Beach County, Inc. is a not-for-profit, non- partisan organization established in1975. The council has played a critical role in unifying the county and providing guidance on education,transportation, job creation and ethics reform. Membership consists of influential community leaders who have achieved a high level of success and public recognition in one or more of the fields of business, industry,commerce, education or the professions. Emphasis is placed upon selecting members who either own or are at the highest level of management within a business entity. Council members come from all geographic areas of Palm Beach County.
