Obama asked to show ID to vote in Chicago

President Barack Obama made a show of himself casting his vote for the 2012 election  in his home state on Thursday.

Arriving at the Chicago voting facility ready for his photo opportunity, the  president cast his ballot early.  To add to the show,  he was asked by the election worker for his ID, as is legally required.

The president has been critical of  laws requiring voters to show ID. In fact, the night before, while he was a guest of Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” he blasted the Republican approved voter ID laws.

“We should be thinking about ways to make it easier for folks to vote, not to make it harder for folks to vote,” he told Leno.

Obama’s early vote reinforces the strong push he is making for people to vote early.
