Every modern totalitarian leader’s ladder to the top had three bottom rungs: the control of the universities, then the media, leading eventually to total dictatorship. Adolph Hitler, Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, to name just the most prominent, all had to overwhelm these elements of democracy in order to win over the hearts and minds of their enslaved citizenry. And so we see the construction of the steps to totalitarianism in our country today.
Look at the media and try to name the leading conservative newspapers and television outlets. Then count the number of liberal ones. There is no comparison. After naming the Wall Street Journal, The New York Post and the Washington Times as leaning right (only on their editorial pages), my mind goes blank. Ditto for Fox News in the electronic media. But to list the various print and other media sources that support every single Democratic priority, you’d need a ream of paper and an extra-large printer cartridge.
Our citizenry is overwhelmed by the massive power of the media. Our entertainment industry stomps down on any conservative voice that dares to confront its leftist ideology of socialism and radical Islam. When a member of that industry speaks up, he or she is treated as a pariah and his or her career lands in the dumpster. So give credit to Stacey Dash, who was demeaned bitterly when she came out in support of Mitt Romney.
If a mere rank-and-file member of the entertainment industry were to speak up, “Goodbye Charlie!” The movies we see are screened by Islamists to guarantee we see only good Muslims. The threat of Muslim violence hangs over the industry and tends to censor any showing of Muslims as “bad guys.” It’s OK for Italians to be depicted as criminals. I don’t recall any Italian repercussions from this misrepresentation. But Muslims as terrorists? Hey! Hang on to your head!
Our academic institutions, from kindergarten through graduate schools, are staffed by radical leftists. Our youth are tutored by the likes of members of the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association. Both groups fight tenaciously to avoid having any of their members scrutinized for teaching proficiency. Once their three years of probation are up, these teachers have jobs for life. They can teach students the philosophy of the left in their classrooms without fear of reprisal. The teaching profession, of which I was once a member, sits at the bottom of the professional scale among all other jobs requiring a college degree. Its members are now sheep being led by the radical left. Randi Weingarten, the head of the national AFT, is an outspoken supporter of the Democratic Party. No teacher is willing to lose the support of his or her union by standing up to the leftist leaders. That would be professional suicide. The teacher unions support the Democratic Party with 95 percent of their political contributions
The college professors are just as biased politically. The ratio of registered Democrats to Republicans among college instructors is about 10 to one. Not a good predicament for students who want to learn both sides of issues. Especially the topics dealing with social, domestic, international and political implications. The deck is stacked against our youth when they are taught, confronted and radicalized by their omnipotent instructors. They don’t stand a chance and are sent out into society with a flawed concept of fairness and ideology.
If we are to prevent the onset and takeover by totalitarian forces in our country, we must wake up to the dangers to democracy emanating from our media and education indoctrination specialists. They are not our friends.
