Is Florida CFO Jeff Atwater John Galt?

Ellen Snyder & CFO Jeff Atwater.

Florida CFO Jeff Atwater joined a group of grassroots activists at the Boca Cinemark Theater Sunday night to premier a special showing of the movie Atlas Shrugged Part 2.

Upstairs at the cinema’s restaurant, after the show, Atwater led a lively discussion with the crowd of just under 100 people, half the number that showed up to view the film.

In a move rare for most public figures, the veteran politician yielded the microphone for much of the time, allowing the people in the room to express themselves.

When he did speak, Atwater offered insight on the impact of the famous Ayn Rand story. His thoughts on the movie turned into a reflection on American exceptionalism. Based on the feedback, the audience was as entertained with Atwater as they were by the film.

In the following video, the CFO also discusses the novel’s famous character, John Galt, who is described in Wikipedia this way:

A fictional character in Ayn Rand’s novel Atlas Shrugged (1957). Although he is not identified by name until the last third of the novel, he is the object of its often-repeated question ‘Who is John Galt?’ and of the quest to discover the answer.”
