The government belongs to us — not the other way around.
The Democratic National Convention got things rolling with a video. Nothing unusual about that. Except this one contains the line, “Government is the only thing we all belong to.” Oh? I thought government belonged to us — “We the people.” Government is our creation — we built that, and government is our servant. How do I know this? It’s in the preamble to the Constitution:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
