Every year, I dread Christmas shopping. My father-in-law is especially hard to shop for. Dad is 89 years old and has just about everything — from gadgetry to silk ties. Over the past 25 years, I have been guilty of throwing my hands up in the air and opting for a lame pair of flannel pajamas for him. Not this year.

USB 8GB Flash Drive Lighter – This is a real lighter that doubles as a portable “thumb drive.” The USB connector slides out from the lighter to plug into your computer. The lighter is refillable and the flame is adjustable. (Lighter fluid not included.) Price: $29.99
AlcoHawk Digital Alcohol Detector – Worried about how much you’ve had to drink at a party? Carry this in a pocket or on a keychain.
