GOP donor and philanthropist Yvonne Boice will be hosting a campaign fundraiser for a U.S. Senate candidate, but not for Adam Hasner, the candidate she has supported in the Florida House for years. Boice announced she is endorsing George LeMieux in the Republican primary for the seat now held by Bill Nelson.
Highly respected in Boca Raton political circles, Boice and businesses registered in her name first supported and contributed to Hasner’s campaigns for state office in 2003. Over three elections, she made monetary contributions of $2,250 and in-kind contributions — mostly involving fundraiser hosting costs — of $1,750. Boice has not contributed to Hasner’s U.S. Senate campaign.
“George LeMieux has the best chance of beating Bill Nelson, and it is imperative that we take back the Senate,” Boice said. “Sen. LeMieux has already served as a senator, he knows the issues, and he can win a debate with Nelson.”
The George LeMieux for U.S. Senate fundraising reception will be held Sept. 27, from 5:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m. at Bash at Boca, located in Boice’s The Shoppes at Village Pointe. A minimum contribution of $250 is suggested. Also on the host committee are Florida Rep. George Moraitis and his wife, Heather Moraitis, and Boca Raton City Councilwoman Susan Haynie and her husband, Neil Haynie.
