We’ve had no letup of news from the Mideast about the desire on the part of the Arab street for democracy, freedom, clean elections and plain freedom from oppression.
Egypt, Syria, Libya, Bahrain, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Yemen are just some of the nations trying to do away with their kings, presidents, prime ministers, all of whom are cruel dictators, the likes of which have ruled these nations with iron fists for centuries.
Arab nations have never known true freedom. Their brutal rulers have combined with the Koran to dictate to their people how to live their daily lives and how to hate others, even those of the Muslim faith. So how can any of these people rioting in the streets know what they are clamoring for? They’ve never been permitted to experience free thought, nor could they ever express themselves without fear of punishment from their rulers or Allah.
Why isn’t Israel held up as an example to these oppressed people of what a real democracy is like? Why doesn’t President Obama say it like it is to the Arab world:
“Right here in your own neighborhood is a nation whose people, Jewish, Christian and Muslim, live in prosperity and in peace. They cast their votes, live and work together and go about their daily lives without fear of government dominating their lives. Look at its contributions to science and technology. Look at their schools in which their children get educations that your kids could never dream of. Study this nation of freedom. Emulate it. And stop trying to destroy it. Israel is an example to you of what you can have if you toss out your religious hatred. Make the nation of Israel your model for your own countries. Liberty, peace and prosperity can be yours if you understand it. Throw off the tyranny under which you and your ancestors have lived for a thousand years. Do it not for yourselves, but for the generations to come.”
Sorry, no such luck. No such understanding on the part of our leader for what the Arab world should strive for.
So in what direction are the Western nations, particularly our own, pushing these tribal people? And just who are those waiting in the wings to take over from the present repressive regimes? Are we aware of the vacuum being created by pushing out the likes of Mubarak and Khaddafi?
Our support for unknown power groups in Muslim countries will lead to the eventual takeover in these lands of religious extremists. Only too late will we wake up to find our own country contaminated with this same cancer. It is time to wake up, size up the situation worldwide and come to the only rational conclusion: Radical Islam must be recognized and contained within and outside of our own borders before we are consumed by this same evil.
