The left, led by Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama, has decried waterboarding as cruel, unusual and un-American. What is especially galling in the case of Pelosi is that she was apparently informed that our prisoners were subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques but raised no objections until it was politically expedient for her to do so.
If the killing of Osama Bin Laden proves anything, it’s that enhanced interrogation works and should never be taken off the table as an intelligence-gathering tool.
Four years ago, we learned the nickname of a courier for Bin Laden from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. This is not intelligence he would have willfully handed over. We only received it as the direct result of waterboarding. This information, combined with four years of patience, gave us the location of the most despised man in the United States, and the most evil man in the world.
I find it especially ironic that his life was taken by a Navy SEAL team. As a part of their training, SEALs have to subject themselves to waterboarding, and this same technique led to Bin Laden’s demise.
May God continue to bless America.
