The Arizona Blame Game

falconer1By Matthew Falconer

The tragic events in Arizona this weekend have unleashed a barrage of attacks on conservatives in America. The New York Times and other liberal media outlets have suggested the “vitriolic” rhetoric of conservatives incited the mentally imbalanced attacker to shoot a Democratic Congresswomen.

But in the hours after the attack it became clear the shooter was not a tea party follower or a conservative. In fact he was and is a liberal democratic socialist.

There is no evidence he ever listened to Glen Beck or Sarah Palin. Given his political leanings it is much more likely he read the Daily Kos than watched Glen Beck. His favorite books included “Mein Kampf” and “The Communist Manifesto,” along with the “Animal Farm” by George Orwell that suggests Democrat Socialism is better than Communism. The books on my shelf include “The Conscious of a Conservative” and “The Education of Ronald Reagan.”

I attended the very first Orlando tea party in February of 2009 and I have been active ever since. My friends use terms like “mortgaging our children’s future” and “ending reckless spending.” The tea party is a tri-partisan movement of citizens who are concerned our national debt and deficit will erode our standard of living. We are not responsible for the Arizona shooting nor are Glen Beck and Sarah Palin. And for liberals to even enter their names in articles about the shooting is malicious and slanderous.

But while conservatives use logic and common sense, the left has for decades used spin and propaganda to achieve its goals. Has anyone seen the “jobs bonanza” promised by the left from the government projects? And the vitriolic rhetoric is stronger on the left. I received a Facebook comment today saying “Sarah Palin should be arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.”  Jane Fonda blamed Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and the Tea Party for the shooting.

But the winner of the liberal vitriolic rhetoric contest goes to a blogger on the Daily Kos; “The Tucson Tea Party will be made to pay for the blood on their hands. An eye for an eye. You want a civil war, you got one. KILL Jesse Kelly for his role, then KILL Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glen Beck. Whoever puts BULLETS in their HEADS shall be a NATIONAL HERO.”

These people do not care about the pain and suffering the families of the victims of this tragedy are enduring. Blaming the tea party will not balance the budget or help the economy, but in their eyes it will help the liberal agenda. The only thing angry liberal’s regret is the killer was not a member of the tea party but a fellow liberal.

On behalf of conservatives and the tea party movement, I offer our thoughts and prayers to the families whose lives were shattered in Arizona.
