Former Florida Republican chairman Jim Greer released the following statement yesterday. It appears that 2011 is going to be a very interesting year;
“In response to those seeking comment regarding my resignation as RPOF Chairman, Governor Crist’s Senate Campaign loss and the upcoming RPOF Chairman’s election, I am limited in my ability to address these issues at the present time.
However, during my term as Chairman, many Republican leaders who have now participated in the smear campaign against me are the same leaders who pleaded with me as Chairman to keep their activities, and the activites of the Party, confidential.
In addition, upon signing my severance agreement, these same leaders stated that it was also necessary to maintain secrecy. Then and now due to my current cirucmstance, I must refrain from specifically addressing the lies and the liars, and the fact that those who criticize my decisions today were the same persons asking me to make those same decisions then. But I look forward to setting the record straight through the judicial process and by other means.
I was proud to serve as Chairman of the RPOF; I worked hard and much was accomplished during my term and until it was politically expedient not to, many commended my administration and supported my decisions. To the many Republicans and friends who have contacted Lisa and I with support and remorse for the attacks against my family and I , we thank you.
To those who have unjustly promoted lies, accused me of blind loyalty to Governor Crist and tried to ruin my life and reputation with no regard for my wife and children, I look forward to the truth coming out and addressing the false accusations, while at the same time enlightening the general public to what really goes on behind closed doors at the Republican Pary of Florida and the conduct of elected officals, lobbyists, consultants and others.
I also look forward to the debate between the grassroots and elected officals, and who truly runs the party, as I know the elected members believe they do and that the grassroots are simply a nuisance, or as they have said to me: “we win in spite of the grassroots and state committee, not because of them”, some of these “Leaders” even suggested abolishing the committee by statute, a postion I never bought into.
Many have said my demise within the Party was due to my support and loyalty of Governor Crist, maybe, but I still believe he served the Party well and was a fine Goverenor. Those within the RPOF and those who live off of the political gravy train may wish to re-write history for their own personal gain, but I am confidant as others are, they will not prevail. Happy New Year!
Former Chairman , RPOF
