More Rambling Thoughts – Friday Edition

When asked this week about Rick Scott, Republican candidate Teresa Jacobs had this to say; “I haven’t come out on that race, I’m staying out of everybody else’s campaign.”

Strategic or not, this is unacceptable.  The RPOF requires Republican Executive Committee members to sign a ‘loyalty oath’, yet, this sentiment apparently doesn’t apply to Republican ‘candidates’.  I’m curious how Jacobs would feel if Rick Scott supporters found themselves “staying out” of her campaign when voting?

And, now that we are on the subject, early voting has been ongoing for five days and we are now just eleven days from Nov 2nd and Bill McCollum still has not come out in support of Rick Scott…

Heard a very interesting theory this week on this whole matter…it was suggested that the Republican Party is working hard on obtaining a super majority at the ballot box, thereby, rendering the Governor’s seat expendable and allowing the current power structure to remain intact.  Being a Tallahassee outsider, Scott is certainly viewed as a threat by some Republican power brokers.  Status quo will not be the order of the day if Scott is sitting in the Governor’s seat.

Those who make up the tea party are often accused of being naive by the experienced politico’s, and this may be one time when this is an accurate charge.  The tea party movement wants so badly to believe that we are all in this for the right reasons.  For what’s best for our children and our country.  It certainly gives one reason to pause when considering the price some are willing to pay for self preservation.

It is not a stretch to say that the Governor of Florida will play a key role in the 2012 Presidential Election…four more years of Barack Obama’s Progressive agenda, and the failure to repeal ObamaCare, could be that price.

Sarah Palin is in town tomorrow!  She will be headlining the RNC 2010 Victory Rally at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention Center.  Additional speakers will include RNC Chairman Michael Steele and Republican Senatorial candidate Marco Rubio.  The event begins at 3:00PM, with doors opening at 1:45 PM.  Arrive early, traffic will be heavy!

Local radio personality Bud Hedinger was questioning why Rick Scott is not part of this event on his show yesterday, suggesting that there are dubious reasons behind this.  With all due respect, it doesn’t take a political strategist to understand that Scott is in a battle for the independent vote, which will decide the gubernatorial race.  While Sarah Palin is the darling of the right, of which, Scott, outside of the RPOF, has secured that vote, she very well may drive some independents away.

Rumor has it that Bud and Bill McCollum are good friends…there’s that name again!

Bottom line, fair or not, should Rick Scott falter at the polls, the blame will be placed squarely on the shoulders of the Republican Party of Florida by many, particularly by those within the tea party movement.  Shoulders that past experience has shown to be wanting…
