New Kosmas TV Ad is Flat-Out Wrong
(Oviedo, FL) – Sandy Adams released the following statement today after viewing the new attack ad released by Rep. Suzanne Kosmas.
“Suzanne is so desperate to keep her seat in Congress that she has resorted to flat out lying about my record. While Suzanne has no problem misleading voters about my support for Social Security and Medicare, the facts show that she has gone ahead and voted as recently as two weeks ago to cut nearly $2 billion from the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds. So while Suzanne is misleading Floridians about my record, she has voted herself to make seniors’ retirement funds less stable and more risky. Let me be abundantly clear – I do not support the privatization of Social Security. Period. You can find that statement on my website, where it has been up for several months. So while Suzanne can make up whatever distortions she wants, the facts show that I will stand up for Florida seniors.
“This is a pattern we have seen from Suzanne throughout the campaign – claiming that I will vote to do something that harms my Florida constituents at some point in the unnamed future, while she herself has voted to do exactly that during her time in Congress. She claims I want to put Social Security and Medicare at risk. The truth is that she voted to cut nearly $2 billion from their trust funds. Suzanne claims that I want to send American jobs overseas. The truth is that she voted for a bill that sent $2.3 billion to countries like China and South Korea to create “green energy” jobs.
“Furthermore, this new attack ad is a symbol of what is wrong with Washington, D.C. insiders like Suzanne Kosmas, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Instead of working across the aisle and listening to constructive ideas from both parties, they choose to demonize policies that come from the other party, and use attack ads like these to scare seniors that they think will drum up votes.
“Congressman Paul Ryan has shown great courage in offering his solution and I applaud him for doing so. The problem with insiders like Kosmas is that anyone who offers any solution risks senseless accusations like the one Suzanne has leveled at me. America needs lawmakers to offer ideas and solutions, not politically-motivated attacks, which is all Suzanne seems capable of. Florida voters are sick and tired of politicians that distort the facts about their opponents in a crass attempt to gain votes, and I believe will make that clear to Suzanne when they vote her out of office on November 2nd.”
