Republicans Have A Choice Other Than McCollum or Scott for Florida Governor
Last week I received a phone call from my brother who was at a Tea Party in Polk County. He mentioned that he had just seen Mike McCalister speak to their group and that we should consider having him come to our group to speak. I replied “who is Mike McCalister”. Come to find out he is on the Republican ticket in the primary against McCollum and Scott.
Like many people, I had no idea there was a 3rd choice on the ballot. I got on the phone with Mike and mentioned we would be having a meeting on the 19th and invited him to come and speak to our group.
Mike spoke to our group, the West Orlando Tea Party, last night and was a refreshing voice to hear. He spoke about his vision and plan for Florida and rarely attacked his opponents. As he says, they are doing a good job on their own of attacking each other. Mike is a retired Colonel and a Ph.D. and has a very impressive resume of leadership experience.
So why has Mike been largely ignored by the media and pollsters? I believe it has to do with money and power and nothing more. He doesn’t have $40 Million to campaign and has little to no support from the Republican Party of Florida. He has not accepted any corporate donations and has done very little in the way of raising funds.
Instead, Mike has been getting in his car daily for the last several months and traveling the state to talk to any group who would listen to him, often Tea Parties.
Before you go to vote on Tuesday, you may just want to give Mike McCalister a quick look. In my humble opinion, Mike has the best shot of the 3 candidates to take on and beat Democrat Alex Sink. You may just want to check his site and see where he stands before you vote Tuesday.
