Diebel Campaign Parses Words to Avoid Lying About her Tax-Raising Past!

In a recent release Karen Diebel’s campaign said that Miller exposing her tax raising record “lacks important context” — Huh? Tax raising “lacks important context”? That’s the way politicians speak when they are trying to convince taxpayers that it is okay to raise their taxes. Politicians say, “Understand the context in which we must raise your taxes in order to continue our very important functions …” Taxpayers say —- the context doesn’t matter — if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck – it must be a duck – plain and simple. A tax is a tax is a tax.

In fact, in the same press release the Diebel campaign never denies raising the 8 taxes Miller said she raised – of course, she couldn’t deny it because it’s true. Some people (usually politicians) believe government doesn’t have enough money and therefore need higher taxes and then are other people (usually taxpaying citizens), like Craig Miller, who believe government has too much money and taxes and spending need to be cut.

Facts are facts — here is Karen Diebel’s tax raising record straight from the public record at the Winter Park City Commission — she can run but she can’t hide from her record:Karen Diebel’s Tax Hikes

Please call the Karen Diebel campaign and ask for answers to this record. It is one thing to claim that you are a champion for lower taxes, but you better have the record to back it up. Let her know that you won’t tolerate baseless attacks from a campaign simply trying to deflect from their own record.
