FLORIDA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ENDORSES PAM BONDI FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, the Pam Bondi campaign announced the endorsement of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, a significant development in the race for Attorney General. The Chamber represents a membership of 139,000 businesses and organizations across the state and regularly advocates on their behalf. This endorsement is the Chamber’s first in an Attorney General race.
“Pam Bondi’s nearly two decades of courtroom experience makes her the best prepared candidate for Attorney General,” said Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber. “Her years as a prosecutor and unshakeable pro-business convictions provide her the tools she needs to excel as Florida’s top law enforcement officer.”
Bondi served for 18 years as a prosecutor in the State Attorney’s office in Tampa. As a first-time candidate for public office, she has garnered the support of a broad coalition of business organizations, conservative political leadership, and grassroots activists. She has been endorsed by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida and the Associated Industries of Florida PAC and is supported by Speaker of the House Larry Cretul, former Attorney General Jim Smith, and former Governor Bob Martinez.
“This campaign is building toward a crescendo, with all the right pieces coming together at the right times,” said Rick Baker, statewide chairman of the Bondi Campaign and former Mayor of St. Petersburg. “The Chamber endorsement speaks highly of Pam’s commitment to Florida’s future prosperity. She will be an advocate for the working men and women of our state.”
Bondi has emphasized defending Florida against federal encroachment, especially continuing the lawsuit opposing the healthcare legislation passed by President Obama and Speaker Pelosi. Many observers point to Bondi’s depth of experience as a prosecutor, which includes death row convictions, as a key ingredient in her qualifications to be Attorney General.
