Craig Miller Get’s Sentinel Endorsement in D24

Craig Miller, a Vietnam War veteran and former CEO of Ruth’s Chris Steak House, has been endorsed by the Orlando Sentinel as the ‘most qualified‘ Republican candidate in congressional districty 24.

The Sentinel states; ‘On issues, Mr. Miller sounds like a lot of conservatives running this year: He’s opposed to tax hikes, doesn’t like the new health-care reform law, and thinks government has gotten way too big.  But he also shows a greater understanding of the complexity of issues than his GOP rivals.’

The review of the other D24 candidates was harsh in some cases, beginning with Karen Diebel, who was said to be  ‘poorly informed on federal issues’ and Deon Long, who’s ‘out of his league’.

Sandy Adams was somewhat spared as sharp a critique, although she was called out for resorting to ‘pointless political stunts that pander to her party’s base’.

“Thank you to the Orlando Sentinel for endorsing my candidacy,” stated Craig Miller. “At the end of the day, the most important thing is to take back this Republican leaning seat from the grips of liberal Democrats and steer this country back on track.  We must stop the runaway government spending and create policies that stimulate economic growth, not stifle it.  I understand the voters of District 24 better than anyone else and will represent their value system in Washington.”

It certainly seems that the momentun is now swinging Craig Miller’s way.  He came out on top in a recent poll of decided voters, currently has the finances to see his campaign through to the primary and he’s continuing to pick up local endorsements at a time when the well appears to have run dry for the other candidates.

The three top candidates in district 24, Miller, Adams and Diebel, participated in a forum at the Orange County Republican Executive Committee monthly meeting last night.  The overall performance was definately lacking the passion of the district 8 candidate forum held the previous month, with the three coming across very ‘scripted’.

As we approach August 24, it seems that the long hours on the campaign trail is beginning to take it’s toll.

As for Craig Miller, he’s a local product with solid business background and strong leadership skills.  Attributes that are poorly represented in Congress today and a significant step up from Suzanne Kosmas.  He also has the proven experience of creating jobs, which is sorely needed in Central Florida.   Considering the Sentinel’s reputation with conservatives, the value of this endorsement is uncertain, however, it does tip the scales further in Miller’s favor.
