Being careful not to make this site All Grayson, All The Time, although, with his penchant for the bizarre, it would certainly cut down on time spent on content, there are some things that must be addressed to ensure the public is getting the whole story.
All the conspiracy theorists out there have been alluding to a connection between Alan Grayson and the Florida Tea Party, and, did Grayson provide the missing link in an e-mail he sent out today?
The e-mail details results from a poll Grayson had done, in which, he once again makes the ludicrous claim that HE is polling higher than any Republican candidate in the Republican Primary. Of course, coming from Grayson, we have learned a long time ago not to take this man seriously, although, in an overwhelming desire to challenge this ridiculous claim, wouldn’t it be nice to see the demographics of this poll? Unfortunately, he doesn’t share that information with us.
(A sidenote to this story, in a conversation I had with Grayson a while back, I offered to have a similar poll conducted, with the pollster of my choice, providing he pay for it. What I got in response was laughter, which he followed with, “do you think I’m an idiot”? Self control got the better of me at that point as I agreed that he was indeed no idiot.)
However, I digress…
In this e-mail, Alan Grayson suggests that his poll results show that the “Tea Party is more popular with Republicans than any of the Republican candidates.” Of course, he does not state whether he is referring to the tea party movement, or the Florida Tea Party political party, although, by choosing to capitalize the term, one might assume he is referencing the latter. It is encumbent upon me to emphasize that the state wide tea party movement does not support the FTP political party.
The email then goes on to name the candidate who is running under the FL Tea Party banner by name! This immediately exposes her to his extensive e-mail list, improves her name recognition and further confuses voters. No need to contact the FTP officials, who will deny any knowledge of this act, nor involvement.
So, is Alan Grayson endorsing the FTP candidate? Hard to say.
Does his candidacy stand to gain by making her better known? Absolutely!
Does the Florida Tea Party candidate run the risk of splitting the conservative vote and ushering in another two years of nuttiness on the part of Alan Grayson? It goes without saying…
What also goes without saying is that today’s action is yet another example of just how far Grayson is willing to go to hold his seat. Money is no object for him, and it’s becoming more and more clear that integrity will not stand in the way either. The real question is will the residents of Central Florida decide that they expect a higher standard from their representative, as it will be their children and grandchildren who stand to pay the ultimate price for the actions of men like Alan Grayson.
