Memorial Day Statement from Kurt Kelly
Kurt Kelly and House Speaker Larry Cretul Address Memorial Day Ceremony
OCALA, Fla. (May 31, 2010) – Conservative small businessman Kurt Kelly, a candidate for Florida’s Eighth Congressional District, alongside House Speaker Larry Cretul, addressed the guests at the Ocala – Marion County Memorial Day Ceremony. Kelly released the following statement in honor of Memorial Day:
“For more than two centuries, Americans have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of liberty for all Americans. On Memorial Day, we honor these heroes for their service to our country. Memorial Day is a day of remembrance, especially for those who have lost loved ones serving in our armed forces. Each life deserves our respect and reflection on this solemn day.
I will have the honor to participate in Memorial Day events in the district including the Highlands Memorial Day Ceremony and the Ocala / Marion County Veterans Memorial Ceremony with my friend Florida House Speaker Larry Cretul. Throughout Central Florida, thousands of veterans will take part in Memorial Day ceremonies to honor their fellow fallen service men and women. I hope that all of their families, friends, and fellow servicemen can find strength in knowing these brave Americans contributed to the greatness of our nation. America is more secure because of their sacrifice.
As Memorial Day services take place, let us also remember the service men and women who have paid for our freedom with their lives in the current War on Terror. We stand together as Americans and honor them and are thankful for what they have done and what they will continue to do to protect our freedoms. It is because of them, I am able to participate in the democratic process that we are involved in today.
May God bless these brave soldiers, and may He continue to bless the United States of America.”
Kelly currently serves district 24 in the Florida House of Representatives. He is challenging Alan Grayson for the district eight congressional seat.
